Auto Body Paint & Refinishing Services in West Monroe, LA

3 min read

A paint code tells you what color your vehicle left the factory as. It does not tell you what color it is today. Three years of Louisiana sun, a different paint supplier at the assembly plant, and the way metallic flake lays down on a curved panel all change the shade. Refinishing at Redeemed Auto Body in West Monroe, LA starts from that reality, which is why our repairs are hard to find even when you know where to look.

How we match your color

Reading the actual paint, not the code

We start with the manufacturer's paint code, then measure the real color on your vehicle with a digital color camera. The camera reads the panel from several angles and returns the closest formula variant from the paint system's database. Most factory colors have a dozen or more variants, and choosing the right one is the difference between a match and a "close enough."

Spray-out cards

Before any color goes on the vehicle, the mixed formula is sprayed on a test card and held against the panel in daylight and under booth lighting. If the tone, flake size, or pearl effect is off, the formula is adjusted. Only then does the vehicle go into the booth.

Blending into the neighbors

Even a perfect formula can look different on a fresh panel next to a weathered one. We blend the new color into the adjacent panels and clear the whole area so the eye sees a gradual transition rather than an edge. This is standard on every refinish we do, not an upgrade.

The refinishing process

  1. Surface preparation. Repaired areas are sanded, feathered, and cleaned. Bare metal is treated with epoxy primer to prevent corrosion under the paint.
  2. Primer and block sanding. High-build primer fills minor imperfections and is block-sanded flat so the finished surface has no waves.
  3. Base coat. The color is applied in the required number of coats, with flash time between each so the metallic and pearl particles orient correctly.
  4. Clear coat. Clear provides gloss and UV protection. We use premium clears rated for the heat and humidity we deal with in northeast Louisiana.
  5. Bake and cure. The booth's bake cycle cures the finish so it is hard enough to handle and reassemble.
  6. Denib and polish. Any dust nibs are removed and the finish is polished to match the gloss of the surrounding factory paint.

The booth

All refinishing happens in a semi-downdraft paint booth. Filtered air enters from above and exits low at the back, carrying overspray and dust away from the panel. The result is a cleaner finish with less polishing and a more durable film build. Painting outside a booth, or in a booth with worn filters, is one of the most common reasons a repair looks fine on delivery and dull six months later.

What to expect after pickup

Fresh paint continues to cure for several weeks. For the first 30 days:

  • Wash by hand with a mild soap. Skip automatic car washes with brushes.
  • Do not wax, seal, or ceramic-coat the refinished panels.
  • Rinse off bird droppings, bugs, and tree sap promptly. They etch fresh clear faster than cured clear.
  • Park in shade when you can.

After that, treat the refinished panels like the rest of the vehicle.

Paint warranty

The paint work we perform is covered by our limited lifetime warranty. If the finish peels, fades unevenly, or loses adhesion because of how it was applied, bring the vehicle back and we correct it at no charge for as long as you own it.

Refinishing questions

Will the new paint match exactly?

Our goal is a repair you cannot find. Digital matching, spray-out testing, and blending get us there on the vast majority of colors, including tri-coat pearls and metallics. On the rare finish where the factory paint has weathered unevenly, we will tell you before we start what to expect.

Do you paint whole vehicles?

Yes. Full repaints for faded or failing factory paint are quoted after an in-person inspection, since the amount of preparation drives the cost.

Is refinishing part of my collision claim?

Yes. Paint and materials are a line item on every collision repair estimate, and insurers pay for blending adjacent panels when the OEM refinish procedure calls for it. We document that requirement in the estimate.
